last night i took my husband and boys with me to visit my grandma. she was awake and fully aware of how we all were. i was so excited. my boys and my husband all gave her a kiss on the forehead and after each kiss she said "thank you i needed that."
we talked about her roses. she has the most beautiful rose garden.
we talked about my dog. i had a chihuahua no joke he looked like the taco bell dog but he was cuter. we had to put him down two years ago last Christmas. i didn't have the heart to tell her that he was in heaven...again.
we talked.
my grandma has dementia, so she is really really good at remembering the past but if you ask her to remember last week forget it. so we roll with it.
when we were getting ready to leave she looked over to me and she started to stretch out her arms but get couldn't get them real wide and said "i love you this much mi hija"
so i stretched out my arms as far a they would go, feeling a lot like big nutbrown hare (guess how much i love you) and said right back to her "i love you this much." i got weak in the knees pushing back tears and hugged her hard and kissed all over her face. i found the strength to stand back up. i glanced at my mom, she was crying.
the book has been special to us (my mom and i) i have a copy in my bedroom on my bookshelf. it so crazy to me that she would say this to me. how did she know what it would mean to me? God is Good all the time.
my boys kissed her and again she said "thank you i needed that."
my husband was getting read to kiss her forehead and she before he could she did it again, she stretched out her arms and said "i love you this much mi hijo."
i melted.
when we got to the truck my husband looked to me and said "she is so funny."
to which i responded "yes she is. she is the sweetest most loving lady you will ever know."
this is a memory that i will cherish forever. my special gift form her.
God has been so good to me when dealing with illnesses and the deaths of my grandparents. with each one i have a special memory etched on my heart.
i am thankful.

My eyes def teared up reading this. I'm sorry about what happened to your grandma. I've been away this week and didn't get to read your last post besides the first couple of lines just now (going to read now).. That is heart breaking but, it's good to hear she's doing okay. I hope she continues to do better everyday. Praying for you and your family! <3
