do you ever have those days where you have so much to say but don't know how to say it? i'm having one of those days so PLEASE bear with me. this post being scattered is a huge possibility.
one of my biggest fears is that my children will grow up and turn away from the Lord. that they wont get up on sunday mornings and meet him at his house. when they have a struggle they wont hand it over to him. in times of need, sorrow, happiness, & distress they will forget to hold his hand.
we as a family do our prayer rule together. well my husband does his morning prayers alone, because no one else is up, the boys and i do our morning prayers together, and all together the 4 of us do our evening prayers.
since school got out i decided to get the boys more involved in our prayer rule... so i have been having them read the gospel. my oldest has been rolling his eyes and my youngest has been crying???? so i patiently wait for each of them to get over it and continue and read their part.
i started thinking (i know big shock) do i roll my eyes when it comes time to pray? do i scream and cry? do i want to be doing something else when it's time to give a few MOMENTS to GOD? the answer is yes i do. is this what i want to be displaying / teaching my children? no it's not.
shouldn't we ( I ) want to give the Lord a few minutes ( because really that all it is... i could so be doing better) i'm trying. do i make the boys read the scripture even when they don't want too? because shouldn't we want to do it with a happy heart.
at our monday night book club (not exactly a bible study but more of a faith study) the questions arose what do we do when it (your personal practice of christianity) becomes routine. does it mean as much? and are we born knowing what is right and wrong? no joke we must of talked and ponder these questions for a good 25 minutes.
my answer / thought was this. life does at time get routine and you question why you are doing certain things such as completing a daily prayer rule or going to church, but you do it because you know it's right and feels even worse not to. we all go through spiritual drought but it's then that the Lord is carrying us, and if we continue to give him a little the reward he gives us in return is so much more. i was once told that i should "fake it 'till u make it" i thought it was weird but, seriously it works and i do think if you keep on with your spiritual life when it becomes routine definitely means as much because you are not giving up.
as far a being born with the knowledge of knowing what is right and wrong my thought is this: if we are made in Christ's image
"So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27
then yes definitely we are born with that knowledge, the problem is free will comes into play.
my conclusion is this... i will continue to make my boys to read the scripture even
IF they cry about it.
1. it's the right thing to do
2. i'm the momma and i said so.
3. and above all i want them to love the LORD and give him a moment of their day each day in hope that they will continue on their own to Love him and turn to him (period)
in other news... my father-in-law is having total knee replacement tomorrow(6-16),
PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM his name is George.
and since he is going to be in the hospital for a few days he decided to shave his head so he didn't have to
"worry about it" "hee-hee"
MEN!
so, my husband gave him a hair cut in their (my in-laws) backyard last night. mom-in-law and i were talking in the kitchen and suddenly we heard the leaf blower going. so i run over to the door and look out to see what was going on. surely they weren't doing yard work at 9:30pm
this is what i saw
sure is one way to get the hair off. they said it worked better than a blow dryer and, it was sitting right there begging to by used. famous words of my husband "WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER" so glad i always have my camera in my purse.
he was glad they could make me laugh. i did laugh ALOT it was pee in your pants freakin' funny.
i told them they were "grokies" greek-okies!
LOL
sure made my night.
