oh hey friends

remember me?
yeah i miss y'all too!

so here's the haps around casa fly with me.

two sundays ago i went on a quest for Awesome Socks with my dudes.

we walked from one end of the mall to the other to find just the right color socks.
we went to 4 different stores 3 times each.
i honestly started to get really irritated with my lil' dudes.
but then i remembered that when i was their age my mom would go one quests with me to find just the right guess or esprit outfit. those quest would often end up out of town. our my favorite spot to end up was the esprit store on colorado street in pasadena.
and just so you know colorado street is 2 hours from home.
needless to say i got over it, and enjoyed the quest.
i needed a workout anyway.
and incase you are wondering these are awesome socks.
they have an awesome design down the back.

yesterday was they day that my niece and i have been waiting for for what seems like
for-e-ver
(said in my best squints from the sandlot voice)
we went to the movies after church yesterday to see
i think i am 31 going on 13 here's why:

we HAD to show PEETA love!
thank you very much.
i was pleasantly surprised that it was mostly adults (over 30...holla) watching the movie.
it was amazing. it stayed very true to the book.
obvs the book is better but i expected that.
we had a wonderful time.
i am super thankful to have a niece that is willing to nerd out as much as i am.

i'm her hero.

my momma does this thing like once a year where she runs out of gas.
and who does she call?
me

we'll guys it happened again on friday.
oh my goodness it tickles my heart. my momma is always in a hurry and doesn't always do what needs to be done because she is in her busy hurry. :)

ever since i was a little girl she would somehow in the hustle and bustle of our days wind up driving on fumes often. i can remember countless times her praying
"oh Lord please let sally make it to the gas station. please Lord.
amen."
{every car she has ever owned is named sally...you all name your cars right?}
my brother and i would roll our eyes and say
"not again mom. if you run out of gas we are not pushing this car you are on your own."
i know we were mean but it was embarrassing for a 15 & 13 year old. it happened A LOT.

so back to friday
she calls and says:
"kells i ran out of gas. i'm over here off of such and such street do you have a gas can?
can you please come help me?"
(she always calls me kells, especially when she needs my help)
me:
are you serious...
MOOOOOM! UGHH!!!
{momentarily i was 15 again}
you know we keep a gas can with your name on it. i'll be on my way.

i go out to the garage grab the gas can it was already full SCORE! and the funnel and was on my way.
when i got there with my funnel and gas can my mom says:
"my girl knows how to do everything
{uh no i don't but i'll take it}
you are my hero"

aww shucks mom i love you too!

now go straight to the gas station. that car is much to pretty to be running out of gas.

"God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you're ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. As one psalmist puts it,

He throws caution to the winds,
giving to the needy in reckless abandon.
   His right-living, right-giving ways
never run out, never wear out.
This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God."
2 Corinthians 9: 8-11

he bought me shoes

my husband is a CrossFitter
so i'm sure you can imagine his disappointment
when i make every single excuse i can not to workout.
(seriously girls he pouts)
i've been in a workout funk for well over a year.
not good
my latest excuse to not work out is that my tennis shoes are old and
have no more cushion or support.

well yesterday he called my bluff...

while i was visiting my grandma he text me and asked what size shoe i wear?
he doesn't know this? ha!
i replied, too wrapped up with my grandma to really think about it.
i did secretly hope he was ordering me a new pair of toms
because you see i need them in every color.
he didn't.
he bought me these.
isn't he sweet?!?
he took my excuses away, and i sort of really want to work out
now that i can work out in style. :)
doesn't he have good taste?

so today
i guess i'll let him show me a WOD
i.e. workout of the day

speaking of WOD's
the names are hilarious.
the girls
you should google WOD's it's great!
i just can't take it serious.
due to the names

my friend called me last week and asked me to go to a CrossFit session.
i made excuses, and why can't i escape this madness?!

but this is a new week and thanks to these cute shoes
courtesy my super HOT hubby i think i'll give this thing a shot,
and because i know his beautiful heart... he's concerned for my health.

Ephesians 5:22-33

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body.31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
