It's a God Thing
It's AWESOME and i HAD to join in. you MUST come check it out.
over the past few weeks God has blessed us tremendously. my husband has a wonderful job and it pays well, however we got ourselves into a bit of a financial pinch. As a hobby my husband and a good friend of his used to flip houses. we made out like bandits for many years. in 2006 we were ready to go for it again. we bought a nice, new 2862 sq. foot home. our DREAM HOME. it was perfect. we dumped our whole saving account into the house. houses are the BEST investment right? so we moved into the dream home before the home we were living in SOLD. we didn't think this would be a problem because we were so used to flipping house quickly.
>enter housing market crash<
the house wouldn't sell. we had to make double mortgage payment for months before it finally sold. so bye-bye went what was left of our savings and out came the credit cards. :-/ NOT FUN. we ended up selling dream house a few years later because it was just to hard to stay a float. we have been working hard to pay off our accumulated debt for a few years now and we can finally see light at the end of the tunnel.
last week my husband applied for a part time teaching job. he is going to be teach something that he loves, and will only be working one night a week. we have decided that the money he makes will go straight into our debt.
thank you jesus for loving us so much and always guiding our path
and
giving us what we truly need.
what we learned from all of this is that monetary goods DO NOT make you happy. we lived in a BEAUTIFUL house and it was a miserable experience. our motto now is:
it doesn't matter where we live, we could live in a cardboard box and it wouldn't matter. what matters most is that we are together, praising our extremely sovereign GOD, healthy, & happy. anything extra is a bonus.
this verse has been on my heart all week.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him and he WILL make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
