God is Light.

"This is the message we have heard from

him to declare to you: GOD IS LIGHT;

in him there is no darkness at all."

1 John 1:5

Much like all of you my heart has been so heavy over last weeks events. 

first in auora, then in a mall in oregon, and then in primary school in newtown. my heart bleeds for these families. God please shower them with your love, peace, and light. 

on the way to school in the mornings, the boys and i do our devotions together. yesterday it was tiny mans turn to read. the above verse is what i heard, it's what he read. 

let me just say, coming from his lips it hit me in the most beautiful away...like a ton of brick only these bricks weren't heavy. does that make sense? 

i hope they never forget that 

in him there is no darkness at all. 

we are never truly alone. 

we are always wrapped up tight in our saviors arms. 

always.

now i want to share the rest of the devotion with you.

This year as you admire the twinkling beauty of Christmas lights, ask the Lord to continually light up you heart with love. Confess your sins to Him and get rid of any darkness that might be invading your soul. Then listen to the prompting of the Spirit--pray for someone, call an old friend, mend a relationship. Even if you assume other know how much you love them, tell them anyway.

Dear God, please purify my heart 

and remove all of the darkness within me. 

Let Your light shine in my soul 

so that others may see You living in me.

this is where we are going to see the change my friends, 

by working on our own hearts. 

i pray each day that God will bring peace into the world and that the Love He put us here to show and share will outweigh all of the darkness.
