i'm her hero.

my momma does this thing like once a year where she runs out of gas.
and who does she call?
me

 we'll guys it happened again on friday.
oh my goodness it tickles my heart. my momma is always in a hurry and doesn't always do what needs to be done because she is in her busy hurry. :)

ever since i was a little girl she would somehow in the hustle and bustle of our days wind up driving on fumes often. i can remember countless times her praying
"oh Lord please let sally make it to the gas station. please Lord.
amen."
{every car she has ever owned is named sally...you all name your cars right?}
my brother and i would roll our eyes and say
"not again mom. if you run out of gas we are not pushing this car you are on your own."
i know we were mean but it was embarrassing for a 15 & 13 year old. it happened A LOT.

so back to friday
she calls and says:
"kells i ran out of gas. i'm over here off of such and such street do you have a gas can?
can you please come help me?"
(she always calls me kells, especially when she needs my help)
me:
are you serious...
MOOOOOM! UGHH!!!
{momentarily i was 15 again}
you know we keep a gas can with your name on it. i'll be on my way.

i go out to the garage grab the gas can it was already full SCORE! and the funnel and was on my way.
when i got there with my funnel and gas can my mom says:
"my girl knows how to do everything
{uh no i don't but i'll take it}
you are my hero"

aww shucks mom i love you too!

now go straight to the gas station. that car is much to pretty to be running out of gas.

"God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you're ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. As one psalmist puts it,

   He throws caution to the winds,
      giving to the needy in reckless abandon.
   His right-living, right-giving ways
      never run out, never wear out.
This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God."
2 Corinthians 9: 8-11

i ran out of gas once when i was in high school. i was living with my uncle and when i called him to get help, he said he would never, ever come and bring me gas again. it never did happen again though. i did think it was cruel!

you're such a nice daughter!

I loved this!! My girls have saved my butt more times than I can count..not on gas but other stuff, like running the water in the sink and coughing at just the right moments in the ladies bathroom to drown out any noise when I was desperate once after eating chinese food while we are out and about shopping. Yeah, that happened. We laugh about it all the time. And I can't believe I just told that publicly. lol.

I can so relate to your mom. Filling up can be so tedious! haha.

I used to run out of gas before I got married, then I got a husband who makes sure to fill up for me. love that you are the one she calls. so sweet kelly ;)
