M Y G Y P S Y T E A S E T
this post is like a year late (4 months) and i feel so bad. but like i always say better late than never. ;)
one of my favorite friends threw me a surprise birthday lunch and asked everyone in attendance to get me a tea cup and saucer so that i would have a great start on my very own gypsy tea set. you can see my posts about the time i borrowed her gypsy tea set here.
that week had been a crazy one. it was full of preparation for my s-i-l's weeding. it was long and busy. on friday morning, the morning of my birthday lunch with sarah (as far as i knew it was just lunch with sarah) i kid you not i almost canceled. i called her and said. i don't have anyone to watch the boys and they don't want to stay home alone. sarah the ever gracious soul that she is told me to just bring them along.
the boys and i ran late as usual, and i was frustrated as usual. i give my boys 15 minute, 10 minute, and 5 minute warnings every time we are going to leave the house. i tell them use the bathroom etc. etc. but never fails it's not until i have my keys in my had and walking out the door that they'll decided its time to get ready. i think i need to carry the wooden spoon in my back pocket like i did when they were little just to let them know i mean business. we need to break this vicious little cycle. the whole way to the cafe i was on the verge of tears. i HATE being late, and LATE is my middle name. i win right. :(
we finally got there and i was getting snappy. i mean, all this time i thought all you had to do to get out of the car was open the door and step out. apparently not. anyway. we finally made our way to the cafe and my tiny man says hey Nani's here. my mom's here? is all i thought. you'd of thought it would have clicked at that moment. and then he says and Aunt Sarah, Aunt Nicole and even Erin. still didn't click until i saw them all sitting at the table yelling surprise. Thank goodness i had to walk through the cafe to get to the patio where they were sitting. it gave me a chance to compose myself. i let a tear or two drop. i was feeling really sorry for myself this year around my birthday. so much was going on and i felt like me and MY day were being over looked. which made me feel really unimportant. i know i'm dramatic...but this was literally just what i needed.
let me introduce you to my ladies...err t e a c u p s
aren't they precious? i'd say i'm off to a great start. my favorite is the bottom right. sarah gave it to me. her grandmother let her pick one out for me from her very own collection.
oh if these tea cups could talk...

it never fails that someone has to use the bathroom 5 seconds before we have to leave the house lol
