in between

okay so it's no secret that i have entered a new stage of mommyhood! yep it's called the tweens! or the in betweens! in between little child and teenager! daily i want to scream! telling you that it is hard would be an understatement. BIG TIME!

i can ask #1 what he wants for breakfast and he snaps at me! & he doesn't answer the question. WHAT!!!
blah... hormones. at least that's what i will blame it on. HORMONES.

so the latest battle in my house is over music!
#1 likes heavy metal namely "avenged sevenfold" prayers please!
#2 likes gangster rap... more prayers please!

i realize that the boys are growing up and they are becoming independent thinkers. and they like what they like. but really. why do they know this music? #1 is going to jr. high in the fall, so i knew this was bound to happen. but, what i didn't realize how quickly it would happen. i have been having to loosen my grip daily. I have been trying to make compromises with them daily.
"No we will not listen to 50 cent on the way to school, but we can listen to NEWSBOYS!"
that's my latest rule. only christian music on the way to school. it buys me time to figure out my next move...

after school comes way to fast! don't get me wrong i want my boy with me all the time! i just wish God would call, text, email, facebook me, write me a letter, or just show up at my front door and let me know how to handle all of these situations that arise with my guys. i turn to my bible all the time but, to have coffee with Jesus would be amazing! really want to be the bast momma i can be for them, and right now i feel like i am failing miserably

#1 has a "friend" who is a girl. she keeps asking him to go to the movie with her. i mean he's 12. the answer is no! so me in my frustration told him he can't go to the movies with friends a.k.a. girls until he is at least 14.  this was last night bedtime issue...

every evening at bedtime a new different issue arises. well actually I think there's about 3-4 different issues that run on repeat. we (my better half and I) get asked a question, or a comment gets made every night when we are done saying our evening prayers together. and all of our peace is lost. someone gets mad and goes to bed upset.

i'm really hoping this is all just a season and we will get all of our little bumps in the road smoothed over! today i'm going to leave you with 2 verses that have been on my heart! prayin' for peace and guidance!

"the eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are
 the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy
from before you,
And will say,'Destroy!"
deuteronomy 33:27

"And you, fathers, do not provoke
your children to wrath, but bring
them up in the training and admonition
 of the Lord"
ephesians 6:9

Yes Kelly, you can help us all! Stay in prayer and God will do His version of showing up at your front door. You are raising warriors for the kingdom and you are doing a great job! I love how you "buy yourself time" in the car ;)

oh dear.. I'm right there with you. Our teen is moving into the 15th year and it DOES get easier.. I assure you. The 12, 13ish years were AWFUL! The hormones are so crazy then. SO crazy. We called it the revolving door effect. Once around in it and he's happy and loves us... next time around he comes out with boxing gloves on. They say that if you can be patient and stand strong for the big things during these years, it's simply about "getting them through" all that awkward stuff. I'm learning to be a better listener through this. I'm learning to let go of some stuff.. but like you, I HATE some of the music he's leaning towards. UGH. Hang in there.. I'm praying for you!
